TAMPA, Florida: Early on Sunday morning, Florida rapper Julio Foolio was shot and died in a hotel parking lot in Tampa.

His attorney, Lewis Fusco, informed Tampa’s WTSP-TV, a CBS News station, of his passing.

Tampa Police spokeswoman Jonee Lewis stated during a press conference that around 4:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Holiday Inn Tampa North in response to a report of gunfire at which two cars were fired at, injuring four persons.

Charles Jones, 26, was thought to be one of the victims, but authorities stated that the medical examiner still needs to confirm his identity. WTSP claims that Foolio’s legal name is Jones.
The shooting also left three other persons wounded.

Foolio was in Tampa to celebrate his birthday at an Airbnb, but Fusco told WTSP that he was forced to leave because there were too many people at the house. After that, he proceeded to the Holiday Inn, where Fusco told WTSP, he was allegedly ambushed.

Foolio, who has more than a million Instagram followers, announced and advertised on his page that he was celebrating his birthday in Tampa.
Lewis stated that although hotel guests were not evacuated, police were present to provide assistance to them if needed.

To help with the investigation, police are asking members of the public to donate any footage or information they may have.

“If you saw something or heard something any little detail can help us figure out what happened this morning,” Lewis stated.

Investigators urged anyone with details regarding the killing to give them a call at 813-231-6130.
