Amitabh Bachchan is an Indian actor, producer, television personality, occasional playback vocalist, and former politician Amitabh Bachchan works in Hindi films. He has acted in more than 200 films throughout the course of a career spanning more than five decades. One of the most prominent and important performers in Indian cinematic history is usually considered as being Amitabh Bachchan. He is known as the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Sadi Ke Mahanayak (Hindi for “Greatest Actor of the Century”), Star of the Millennium, or Big B. He is the recipient of countless honours, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the greatest accolade in Indian film.

Bachchan was born to social activist Teji Bachchan and Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He received his education from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, and Sherwood College, Nainital. As a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s movie Bhuvan Shome, he started his cinema career in 1969. He originally became well-known in the early 1970s for performances in films like Zanjeer, Deewaar, and Sholay. Later on, he rose to greater notoriety and was given the moniker “angry young man” of India for numerous of his on-screen appearances in Hindi films.

Bachchan’s career had a decline in the 1980s, but he made a return in the 1990s with movies like Agneepath, Black, and Paa. In the 2000s and 2010s, he continued to perform in movies and television series and hosted a number of reality programmes. He received the Padma Vibhushan in 2012, which is India’s second-highest civilian honour.
