The University of Southern California’s basketball team practised on Monday when Bronny James, the eldest son of basketball legend LeBron James, experienced a heart attack.
A spokeswoman for the family released a statement stating that the 18-year-old was attended to on the spot before being transferred to the hospital. According to the statement, Bronny James’ status is stabilised and he is no longer receiving critical care.
The representative stated that the family is asking for privacy and that timely information would be provided.
According to the spokesman, “LeBron and Savannah desire to publicly express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic personnel for their extraordinary effort and devotion to the safety of their players.
On ESPN’s list of the top 100 recruits for 2023, the 6-foot-3 incoming freshman for the USC Trojans is placed 20th. The institution stated that out of respect for students’ privacy, it was unable to comment.
Another incoming freshman basketball player from USC was admitted to the hospital last summer following a heart attack. After passing out on July 1, 2022, during an unofficial team practise, Vincent Iwuchukwu needed several days to recover at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.
