“24” star uploaded an old photo of himself and his father and wrote, “I must inform you with heavy heart that my father, Donald Sutherland, has died away. One of the most significant actors in cinema history, in my opinion. Never be afraid of a role—whether it ugly, good, or horrible. One can never ask for more than that—he did what he loved and loved what he did. A life well-lived.

In addition to his wife, Francine Racette, Sutherland leaves behind four grandkids and his five children, sons Roeg, Rossif, Angus, and Kiefer, and daughter Rachel.
