Life has an extraordinary way of surprising us, sometimes with moments of joy, but at other times, with brushes against death itself. Frederick J. George has experienced what many might call a life-threatening situation that seems to suggest something supernatural is keeping him alive.
In his memoir, Switched at Birth: My Life in Someone Else’s World, Frederick shares his one-of-a-kind journey and the close calls that left him wondering if fate, or something divine, is helping him.
Over the years, Frederick has survived many life-threatening incidents. Dating back to the icy winters of the 1990s when he narrowly escaped death while driving.
In his book, Frederick recalls one occasion when his car spun 180 degrees on a snowy road, but he miraculously walked away unharmed. Another time, his brakes failed as he slid through an intersection, expecting tragedy, but once again, he fortunately survived.
It didn’t end there. One day, while working under his Ford Ranger, the truck began rolling backward, nearly crushing him. But again, he escaped just in time (thankfully).
Another close call came when a chainsaw slipped from his grip, missing him by inches. Each time, the death call was intervene by something invisible to the physical world.
Frederick believes these events were more than coincidences. He is convinced a higher power was at work, sparing him for a purpose. Perhaps to reveal the truth that he had been switched at birth. Finally, a DNA test at age 56 revealed that the family he grew up with was not his biological family.
In Switched at Birth, Frederick narrates his journey of finding his biological family along with his nail-biting survival stories.
The rift with death was not the only thing he was good at; his life has been a rollercoaster ride, sometimes bittersweet, other times purely fun. His journey to finding his tribe led him to research DNA, which taught him how much it shapes our personalities, traits, and destinies.
Realizing you’ve spent almost half of your life living as someone else could shock many. But Frederick turned it into a lesson of resilience. He hopes to inspire others to persevere through ups and downs, even as the odd one out.
Life is too precious to give up, and he encourages readers to listen carefully to those around them and try to find connection and healing.
Switched at Birth: My Life in Someone Else’s World is a culmination of Frederick’s exciting and inspirational journey through life. Through personal anecdotes, family history, and some science. This book will help you understand how deeply we are connect to our heritage.
